I often describe myself as insatiably creative. I've mentioned on many occasions how I often pour every ounce of my energy and emotion in to every piece of art I create. There is an indescribable feeling that comes over me when I am immersed in a project. I lose all sense of time and space and feel full of energy and excitement that pours out of the tips of my fingers to create a masterpiece (or mess.) It's a feeling that envelopes you, defines you, and can be the spark that ignites something that has the power to create change.
Leaders and innovators from Martin Luther King Jr. to Amelia Earhart had it.
Artists like Monet and Renoir and DaVinci could define it with a paintbrush :
We're all passionate about something; our favorite sports teams, our children, teaching. My passion right now? Turning my 1920s American Foursquare in to a home that reflects my creative self and inspires my daughters.
Recently I became aware of a project that American Express has been working on aptly titled #PassionProject, a contest for individuals to share their passion via a YouTube video entry to win $2000. Ten winners are chosen monthly from now until the end of this year and the entries so far are pretty amazing. Considering my obvious love of retro style, DIYs, and all things interior design, I am especially intrigued by this entry by Helene Cornell showcasing her creative venturing re-purposing vintage trailers!
Pretty cool stuff huh? I would love to stay in something like that, but even more so- decorate one myself!
What is your passion??
Head on over to the American Express YouTube channel to check out some of the other amazing projects people have submitted, or better yet- submit your own!! I would love to hear about it if you do!
