We all need a little music in our lives. A good song can answer a question, soothe the soul and provide an escape. It can recall a memory in the most vivid detail and evoke the most intense feelings.
“Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.” -Sarah Dessen
We created Tunesday Tuesday to do just that, bring people together through music.
Every Monday night at 9pm the link up will go live at The Patchwork Paisley, Drinking the Whole Bottle, Momma Candy, and MrsTeeLoveLifeLaughter. We will designate a theme, and hope that you will share a song that embodies said theme for you. Post the video for the song, an audio clip, the lyrics- however you want to do it. Then, write a little something about why this song captures the week's theme and link up your post here with us!
Visit your hosts after 9pm (EST) on Monday nights
to find out what the theme is for the week!
Rules?
It would be awesome if you would follow your lovely hostesses (links below,) but other than that- let's have fun with this! Know a fellow music lover who should get in on the party? Let them know about it! Want to share your groove with the world? Tweet it should you feel so inclined. Want to grab a button? Go for it. It's really pretty and you'll find it down below.

Your Motivator
Some pretty amazing things happened in 2013. We welcomed our gorgeous second baby girl and sent our oldest off to her first year of preschool. I hit the blog-o-sphere this year as well, officially launching The Patchwork Paisley after much research, a design overhaul and a moment of revelation in which I realized my love of writing and allowed myself to think that I might actually be able to make something out of all of this...
This year also brought about some very important world changes, one that is very important to me being the continuous fight for equal rights in the LGBT community. The fight for equality can never truly be won while there will always be people who can't accept that we are all the same in love no matter who it is we're loving.
In 2013, Macklemore hit my radar with Thrift Shop which I adore, and cemented my love for him after his song Same Love. His words touched me with their very honest and raw emotion and overall theme of acceptance, tolerance and understanding. As a middle school teacher and avid supporter of anti-bullying efforts, I was moved to tears the first time I heard this song as I imagined the pain of living in a world where you felt the need to hide who you are in fear.
We are making progress. We will never live in a perfect world, but these little changes are huge victories and definite symbols of hope- and if there's one way I want to say goodbye to 2013, it's with hope for another year full of positive change.

Beautiful song choice. That was a big one this year.
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, and yes. This one made my list too!
ReplyDeleteI liked this for a bit now but never knew who sang it! LOL Thanks now I can go add it to my list...
ReplyDeleteI love your explanation on this one! I completely agree! I also work(ed) as a teacher and it really is so heartbreaking to see kids judged and hurt just because of who they are. To ever think one day it could happen to my son just tears me up. I love this lyrics in this song and think it is a great choice!
