We all need a little music in our lives. A good song can answer a question, soothe the soul and provide an escape. It can recall a memory in the most vivid detail and evoke the most intense feelings.
“Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.” -Sarah Dessen
We created Tunesday Tuesday to do just that, bring people together through music.
Every Monday night at 9pm the link up will go live at The Patchwork Paisley, Drinking the Whole Bottle, Momma Candy, and MrsTeeLoveLifeLaughter. We will designate a theme, and hope that you will share a song that embodies said theme for you. Post the video for the song, an audio clip, the lyrics- however you want to do it. Then, write a little something about why this song captures the week's theme and link up your post here with us!
Visit your hosts after 9pm (EST) on Monday nights
to find out what the theme is for the week!
It would be awesome if you would follow your lovely hostesses (links below,) but other than that- let's have fun with this! Know a fellow music lover who should get in on the party? Let them know about it! Want to share your groove with the world? Tweet it should you feel so inclined. Want to grab a button? Go for it. It's really pretty and you'll find it down below.

Tunesday Tuesday is all about music and how it moves us. Moves us to dance, sing, feel and even write. Each week when I post, I plan to include a story, a reflection, or an explanation with my song. How you choose to experience and share with us is totally up to you. We all need a little music in our lives, so I hope that this weekly jam sesh can be something we look forward to.
Recently I realized that while out on maternity leave, music had abandoned me. Actually I should say the time for music did. It was always there to be experienced, but I didn't pause to recognize what I was missing. Namely that delicious feeling you get when a song completely and totally engulfs you. Whether it's a new song that you've never heard before and you experience that dawning moment of, "wow, I really like this..." or it's an old faithful that totally encompasses every thing you're feeling at that exact moment in time. When I noticed that the melodious sounds of Disney Junior, HGTV, and sports were becoming my daily soundtrack, I made the decision to remedy that. I actually look forward to selecting the tunes for my daily commute these days. I play the music loud and sing and shimmy happily all the way to work and we we we we weee alll the way home.
SO here it is- week 1 and my anthem is Times Like These by The Foo Fighters. This was tough. I think my interpretation of a personal anthem was something that could speak an overall belief or feeling that sums up who I am and where I've been. I also had to consider who sang it. Honestly, I considered posting "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks, but I couldn't come out of the gate with a one hit wonder. I'll save that for 80s week... Dave Grohl is awesome. I absolutely love his voice and this song speaks to me about reaching your limits and then learning to grow and evolve beyond them again and again. It reminds me of defining moments in my life when I thought I couldn't possibly take any more, and then more happened. It reminds me that I'm strong and there will always be more to take, but I can still find happiness again, love again, the silver lining. I've always been a glass is half full kinda gal, but I've had my fair share of moments that have threatened to drain that glass dry, then throw it against a wall. Moments pass though. They leave a scar behind, but it fades as scars do and then their is more again. More to be happy about, more love when you thought there couldn't possibly be more to feel. There always is.
"It's times like these you learn to live again.
It's times like these you give and give again.
It's times like these you learn to love again.
It's times like these time and time again."
I hope you enjoyed Tunesday Tuesday! Please feel free to write your own post to share your anthem and link up with us this week (and every Tuesday!) You can comment below if you're joining us so I can follow you back too! Can't wait to check out what's on your playlist this week.
