Tunesday Tuesday Week 10: Favorite Golden Oldie

We all need a little music in our lives. A good song can answer a question, soothe the soul and provide an escape. It can recall a memory in the most vivid detail and evoke the most intense feelings.

“Music is the great uniter. An incredible force. Something that people who differ on everything and anything else can have in common.” -Sarah Dessen

We created Tunesday Tuesday to do just that, bring people together through music.

Every Monday night at 9pm the link up will go live at The Patchwork Paisley, Drinking the Whole Bottle, Momma Candy, and MrsTeeLoveLifeLaughter. We will designate a theme, and hope that you will share a song that embodies said theme for you. Post the video for the song, an audio clip, the lyrics- however you want to do it. Then, write a little something about why this song captures the week's theme and link up your post here with us!

Visit your hosts after 9pm (EST) on Monday nights
to find out what the theme is for the week!

It would be awesome if you would follow your lovely hostesses (links below,) but other than that- let's have fun with this! Know a fellow music lover who should get in on the party? Let them know about it! Want to share your groove with the world? Tweet it should you feel so inclined. Want to grab a button? Go for it. It's really pretty and you'll find it down below.

This Week's

What's an oldie to you?

No matter the genre, we want to hear it!

Gimme some of that nostalgia...

**Don't forget to link up your post below & visit some participants to see what they're jamming out to!**

Can't stick around for this week's party??
Next week's theme will be...

Your Favorite Love Song

This one was a no- brainer.

I have a ton of songs that I consider to be "oldies." An oldie to me, is a song that has always been old to me. Not Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" because I lived (and head-banged in flannel and donned black and white outfits to a self-choreographed dance with my bestie ) through them and their popularity. To hear those songs called "oldies" now just makes me cringe. So, old-ish they may be, they will never make my list. Not for oldies anyway.

To me and oldie should be heard through the crackle of a record player rather than surround sound, but sadly (though conveniently) when I play my choice for this week, it's always via Iphone.

This song makes me nostalgic for a time I didn't know when a man could sing so passionately about simply wanting to hold a woman. Before "The Thong Song" and "Blurred Lines" when a man needing a woman was just as passionate, but left something to the imagination.

(It doesn't hurt that the images that run through my head when listening involve a steamy scene between Baby and Johnny either)

Hope you'll stop by some of the links below to check out what some other awesome bloggers are listening to this week!

  1. Based on your definition I think our ideas of 'oldie' differ a bit but I love your choice this is definitely a classic and great oldie...Awesome Pick!

  2. Thanks Tiff! That's just how I imagine an "oldie" to be. That what I love about this weeks theme though! I'm interested to see what classifies as oldie to everyone!

  3. Great choices from all of you.

  4. i. love. your. choice. You are soooooo right. Music then was so romantic because it was about actually loving someone so simply. And this song... this song? whew! it was another one of my possibilities for our wedding song because it is so romantic and soulful and beautifully sung. Oh man... great choice!!! And "the crackle of a record player..." well said, Meg. and haha i totally agree to hear those songs called "oldies?" nope. doesn't work for me either.

  5. Otis Redding is definitely under the "oldie" category. I have laugh every time when I hear today's youth refer to 80s music as oldies. It's great to link up with you this week for Tunesday Tuesday! I didn't follow your theme, but decided to join in on the fun to help remind me to play along each week. I would love it, if you hit dance floor with the 4M crew on Monday's Music Moves Me! ;)

The sounds of smooth jazz on 4M

  6. Thinking I will participate next week!! I need to get back in the swing of things.
